In 2010, the New Lenox Soccer Association Board, after several years of discussion, decided to open a competitive division with NLSA. For years, NLSA has been sending its best players to surrounding clubs as NLSA only provided a recreational experience.
It was decided that this division of soccer would hire professional coaches and trainers, as opposed to the volunteer coaches on which the recreational soccer program depends. After many meetings, the NLSA board agreed to appoint a general manager to run the competitive division. The boys and girls each would have a director or coach who would oversee the hired trainers within his division.
After a couple of crazy months, filled with decisions involving team colors, logo, program name, etc. . . . the Legacy Soccer Club was formed.
The first session of Fall Legacy soccer consisted of 10 teams consisting of approximately 120 players. We were excited to field teams at many levels, the youngest being U8 Boys and U8 Girls.
In the Winter of 2010, the Legacy Soccer Club started a Little Legacy program. This program was specifically designed for players from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The purpose of this program was to give our younger children exposure to higher skilled soccer while maintaining a fun environment.
We look forward to seeing where this Legacy journey will take us . . .
